Wink Raid degraded
Posted by: ury - 05-12-2018, 12:56 AM - Forum: N7510 - Replies (1)

Hi,
Here's my status:
N7510, RAID 5 configuration attached (5 disk + 1 "spare")

  • I've noticed my system is responding very slowly, both connections and file transfer.
  • When I looked in the log and in the RAID Management screen, they specify that the RAID has been "degraded".
  • I don't know what "degraded" means, but from reading around I assume it has something to do with disk errors (?)
  • Also from reading through the forums, I saw suggestions regarding setting the spare disk.  I have done that repeatedly, but it doesn't seem to change anything: after I check the "Spare" checkbox and click "Apply", the next time I enter the Raid Management screen, the "Spare" checkbox is unchecked again.
  • I have upgraded to the latest firmware - 2.06.02.10.cdv
  • I have run S.M.A.R.T. test on all HDs.  All RAID drives passed but the "spare-to-be" drive seems to have errors.
  • I have removed the failed HD.
  • The RAID is still "degraded".
I'm not sure if a "spare" drive is mandatory (it shouldn't be).  How can I fix the currently "degraded" status?

Thanks,
  Ury

Capacity missing after growing a RAID5 array
Posted by: cbayleynz - 05-09-2018, 07:23 AM - Forum: N5810PRO - Replies (1)

I just grew my RAID5 array by adding 2 disks but the web interface and 'df' are not showing the new capacity.
mdadm and fdisk do show the increased capacity.

What gives ?

SAS disks in N12910SAS or N16910SAS
Posted by: Baliste - 04-26-2018, 12:19 AM - Forum: N12910SAS/N16910SAS - Replies (1)

Hello,

It seems obvious than N12910SAS or N16910SAS support SAS disks, but in the comparison sheet, they only suport "SATA for internal, support SATA II / SATA III hard disk".

So do those NAS ending in SAS support SAS disk drives ?

Thanks

Frédéric

N8200XXX - shares not accessible by IP AND Domain but else
Posted by: Kaspato0 - 04-10-2018, 06:26 PM - Forum: N5200XXX/1U4200XXX/N8200XXX - Replies (2)

Hi,

some weird situation.
The thecus (N8200XXX, FW: 5.03.02.8) is added to Domain such that we can access FileShares by our domain accounts.
I am logged in on a server with my domain credentials where from I now want to access the thecus shares.

1)
When opening Windows Explorer and typing "\\123.456.7.8" I get asked for credentials.
a) Typing in my Domain credentials do not work.
b) Typing in "admin" credentials do work, share is shown.

2)
When opening Windows Explorer and typing "\\thecus.mydomain.local" I get NOT asked for credentials. Shares are shown directly.

So it seems that domain-function is not available in combination with using the thecus' IP.
A colleague and me often used the IP access in the past few years and it ever worked before.

There havnt been any known changes on thecus in the near past but on domain (fresh newly installation a year ago).
Pinging "thecus.mydomain.local" from any machine resolves to "123.456.7.8".
All colleagues do have the same behaviour, access tries from any other machine also.

So my question is: what could had happen to change this behaviour?
Any help would be greatful.

Exclamation N8800Pro encryption key failed
Posted by: bertieuk - 04-09-2018, 07:03 PM - Forum: N7700PRO/N8800PRO - Replies (1)

I have an N8800Pro with 8 x 1Tb drives. An old unit but has worked ok until now.

2 weeks ago we suffered a power outage. This caused 1 failed drive on powering on the N8800, so left system rebuilding (I have RAID6). Once complete, rebooted (to load encryption key) and another drive failed. Replaced 1st failed drive and let rebuild. Replaced 2nd failed drive and let rebuild. Now raid is fully healthy.

However, the encryption key for the raid fails every time. I have the key backed up and tried this, still fail. Different USB drive, still fails.

Has the encryption on the unit somehow corrupted with the failure of the drives / power outage?

Because all the modules are on the RAID, I can't connect via ssh, etc. either.

p.s Unit has Firmware 5.02.02

p.p.s I have a second N880Pro unit, exactly the same but Firmware 5.03.02.8, can I move all the drives to this unit and try the key?

  The RAID array collapsed.
Posted by: AlexKasatkin - 04-09-2018, 12:58 AM - Forum: N5550 - Replies (2)

I'm using an N5550 with 3.02.02.11.cdv
I have a RAID5 setup with five disks - 4 disks are combined in RAID5 and one in hot-swappable mode.
The access to the data on the network has disappeared.
I decided to check the disks for bad blocks.
On all discs launched "Start Scan Blokk"
For a long time the discs were checked.
The state of the RAID array has become "Destroyed"
Restarted the NAS.
The status of the RAID array is "Building: 0.0%" and does not change over time.
You can not see the piles of the array either.

Tell me how to restore the work of NAS?
And that my data is all gone?

Active Directory Share Folder User ACl login with space not working
Posted by: ruimota - 03-26-2018, 10:19 PM - Forum: N4910U/N4910UPRO - Replies (3)

Hello,

We have 5 Thecus Linux NAS and recently we received 2 new N4910U-R.
These 2 new systems have a problem on the Shared Folder USER ACL, when editing permission for Active directory users with space on the login name.
For example:

Share Folder - TEST
EDIT User ACL
Username1 (active directory): andrew neville
Username2 (Active directory): John.Smith

After aplying READ or WRITE or DENY a message informs "Success Edit Folders Sucessful" but no permissions are saved on Username1.

This error does not happen on the Thecus Linux NAS with older firmware 2.06.02.10.

Both systems have the following Firmware:
N4910U-R version: 3.02.03

Is there any workaround or fix for these issues?

Regards,

Rui Mota
