  Update N4520 Fedora 16 to Fedora 17+
Posted by: junajo85 - 04-16-2017, 04:09 AM - Forum: N4520/N4560 - Replies (1)

Hello all,

Has anyone tried to update Fedora from the Thecus machine to a newer version?

I'm trying to do it through using preupgrade-cli but I'm getting this error:

Code:

  Lost connection to N5550
Posted by: kalua1001 - 04-16-2017, 03:16 AM - Forum: N5550 - Replies (3)

Hello,
it seems, that my N5550 does not respond anymore. Although it seems, that the hardware is working, not connection can be established anymore.
I could get one admin entry again, then suddenly connection was dropped again.
Don´t know, what happened but seems, that the station has a hardware defect.

Now my question: per purpose I made only JBODs disc per disc. Can I now recover at least the discs to get back the data?

Would appreciate any advice

Thanks in advance

PS: Fortunately I found out, that it was the LAN cable, which was broken - just don´t know, why then the second LAN cable did not take over in the link aggregation?
Now with the new cable I received a connection again. But my question remains, if the JBOD discs can be recovered, if HW goes?

  Syncthing 1.00.02.[0.14.11]_x64 Operational Functionality
Posted by: astromo - 04-15-2017, 10:14 AM - Forum: Thecus Modules - Replies (1)

I've upgraded to OS7 for my N5550 and installed Syncthing. Here's what the user interface looks on the web browser:

When I click on the button "Enter App Page" I get the following response:

Doesn't look right to me.

When I fire up Syncthing using, say a Windows desktop client, I get a web page popping up looking like this:

Significantly different.

How am I supposed to get a Syncthing response that makes sense in OS7 and is functional?

System files installation failed after firmware upgrade
Posted by: freesoul - 04-14-2017, 02:08 PM - Forum: N2310 - Replies (3)

Hi,

I recently bought the N4310 4 bay NAS and tried updating the firmware to the latest OS6.0.280. I think it originally came with OS6.0.827.
It seemed to apply it successfully however upon rebooting it reported the following message very first time:
System Files installation failed. (Error Code: 11)
Tried applying the system files from "System NAS Applications" a few times and it reported on each reboot:
System Files installation failed. (Error Code: 10)

Tried factory resetting the NAS but still get the same error if I try to upgrade. Also don't seem to be able to install any other apps from "System NAS Applications" (links are not active).
Except for the very first time, I was able to install the Plex app before the firmware upgrade.

Also "System Management->General" reports the firmware as OS6.0.870, so confused as to why the NAS thinks the system files still need to be upgraded.

Any help is appreciated on what the actual issue is.

Thanks

  Workaround for MACOS connector issue?
Posted by: TwoWheels - 04-14-2017, 06:12 AM - Forum: NAS from 2 to 5 bays - SMB - Replies (1)

I have a W2000 I use as a home server, with a mixed mac and windows client environment.

The mac connector for WSSE2012 does not support El Capitan or Sierra, I beleive. it reports an incompatibility.

Apparently:
a) Microsoft has no plans to support current/future macos versions with WSSE2012
b) Thecus has no plans to support WSSE2016 (because the "E" is not offered by Microsoft).

I'm dumb enough to keep trusting microsfot, having been abandoned by WHS and WHS2011 already,a nd now WSSE2012. bad on me.

Anyway, is there a workaround?

Thanks (most likely for nothing?),

Dave

  N2310 - kexec/usb boot
Posted by: sergey1369 - 04-12-2017, 06:07 PM - Forum: N2310 - Replies (1)

Hello.

1) Does N2310 support kexec?
2) Is it possible to boot kernel/initrdl from usb flash?

Thanks, Sergey.
