Question OS7 iotop and kernel modules
Posted by: scavenger - 12-01-2017, 05:53 AM - Forum: N5550 - Replies (5)

quick question:

Does OS7 kernel finally includes the following modules ?
CONFIG_TASKSTATS,
CONFIG_TASK_DELAY_ACCT,
CONFIG_TASK_IO_ACCOUNTING

they are needed for iotop

Code:
iotop
# Could not run iotop as some of the requirements are not met:
# - Linux >= 2.6.20 with
  # - I/O accounting support (CONFIG_TASKSTATS, CONFIG_TASK_DELAY_ACCT, CONFIG_TASK_IO_ACCOUNTING)

  Mixed Drive Size??
Posted by: sweetspud - 11-29-2017, 02:01 AM - Forum: N5500 - Replies (1)

Is it okay to add larger-sized drives to an array of same brand and model without replacing all 5?

I currently have 5, 2TB, RAID 5 and would like to replace two or three for 4TB drives of the same brand and model to increase capacity.

Thanks!

Question how to identify a slow disk?
Posted by: scavenger - 11-18-2017, 02:58 AM - Forum: N5550 - Replies (2)

Over the past 4 6 years, my RAID5 ext4 with 5 x 2TB disks write performance dropped from 60MB/s down to 14MB/s

I cannot believe all the disks have become that slow. How can one pin point the slowest disk?

smartctl tells me the disks are fine (this output is from another script I made, I can post it if you like):

Code:
      Raw_Read_Error_Rate
      |   Throughput_Performance
      |   |   Spin_Up_Time

N 7700 et problème RAID suite à reset defaults
Posted by: Zitain - 11-15-2017, 06:12 PM - Forum: Général [French Support] - Replies (1)

Thumbs Down OS7? End of Life? Support? Modules??? where are you gone Qoolbox?
Posted by: scavenger - 11-15-2017, 09:33 AM - Forum: N5550 - Replies (4)

Hi guys

Been a while... Years... Now I live in the US and brought with me my N5550. Running on 110V just fine Smile

Ok now, if yu like reading complaints, please go on. If not just close this thread.

Since Qoolbox has left the team, I realized there wouldn't be much activity on the modules side. However it's worse than that.
There is no support no more.
No announcements.
Last FW I saw is the 2.06.2.10. Where is OS7 FW download? Where are the docs and warnings about the risks involved in upgrading with data to OS7?

Where are the new modules?
Everything stalled. Everything is broken. Official Aria2 is not working at all. Nothing has been updated for 4 years or more.

I feel like the N5550 has been completely abandoned.

If it's a mean to tell people to trash it and buy a new NAS, let me tell you that my next NAS will be a Synology.

best regards,
Eric
