access server folder through Thecus
#1
hi, I'm a beginner with Thecus. I need to synchronize a folder on the server that is public and shared with all PCs on the network (the school), with a folder accessible from Thecus. In other words, I need to access this folder through the Thecus. So that each student connected to wifi school, has access to the public folder on the server (through the Thecus)..

Not sure I understand your question at all.

Thecus is a server, so when you say the server and through Thecus.

What does wifi have to do with it?

So why if you have 2 servers and the data is on one of them, can they not just go to it to get it?

Dear Sir,

Please visit following N2310 quick guide page 12~16, even some main icon location is difference, but all the function & option item will be same:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.thecus.com/download/howtoguide/How_to_initiate_N2310_N4310_THECUSID_DDNS_T-OnTheGo_V1.1.pdf">http://www.thecus.com/download/howtogui ... o_V1.1.pdf</a><!-- m -->

If went to sync data between 2 Thecus NAS, please try on DATAGUARD and following guide for your reference:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.thecus.com/download/howtoguide/HowTo_RemoteBackup.pdf">http://www.thecus.com/download/howtogui ... Backup.pdf</a><!-- m -->

At school we have a server with the following operating system: Windows Server 2003. On this server there are several folders shared with all computers being part of the LAN. At school we also have a NAS (THECUS N10850 V2.05.06). In short, at our school we have two methods of file sharing:
1.folders on the server (\\192.168.1.4) to access these folders, the requirement is to be part of the LAN. All computer in labs are part of the LAN.
2.folders on the NAS (\\192.168.178.45) to access these folders, you must be connected to the Internet through the Internet of the School (wireless or ethernet).
I want to unify these two methods of file sharing. Students, working in laboratories, save their files to a folder that is on the server, but they would also find these files on the NAS, when they are in the school and work with their laptops.

More better, I understand now Smile
That said, this particular forum is for the Windows NAS boxes, not the unit you have, so I have no clue.

Though the links given above look interesting/applicable to you. But you may want to repost in the proper forum. (Also you need to upgrade that Server 2003 LOL)

Good luck,
Grey
