GoodSync Server needed
#1
Hi,

could you release a GoodSync module for N2310 (PowerPC)? All the packages are available at: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.goodsync.com/for-nas">http://www.goodsync.com/for-nas</a><!-- m --> as DEBs. It would greatly improve the data sync for GoodSync users instead of using FTP or WebDAV slower protocols.

Best regards
Andrew

I totally agree with you Holymouse!

Also, please check and vote for that new tread that I created recently: http://forum.thecus.com/viewtopic.php?f=...%5D#p44959

THECUS, please publish a CLEAR and SIMPLE procedure, scripts and so on for normal IT guys like me to use so to make module by ourself.

I suggest you to re-post that request under a new forum subject. Kept me updated so I'll support you: just send me a private message when done.

Regards

BTW I need it for my N7700 and for my TopTower N6850. So for OS 5 x86 and x64

I have managed to run GoodSync Server on my N2310 as a service. But I still have to run it manually via a shell command. I can't figure out how to add it to the startup without update-rc.d script implemented. More professional way is to make a module compatible with Thecus linux distro.

Regards
Holymouse

PS. Maybe you could provide me an e-mail address of a guy named Stephane, he is specialising in N2310 and N4310 based on the PowerPC.

Here's extracts of my support ticket with GoodSync support:

Hello,

I would like to install GoodSync on my Linux NAS but to do so I need the installer to be wrapped into a .mod file, that seems to be Thecus proprietary format. As I understand, according to forum.thecus.com, it should be easy for a programmer to create the package, but I'm a non-initiated user.

Would you help with that please?

we only support major NAS producers and even that takes a lot of effort.

I never heard about Thecus

so if it is Linux, they must support RPM or DEB packages and this is what we provide

Hello William,

Please explore a little bit more the option to create my requested package for Thecus OS 5 x64. To do so, I suggest you to refer to these guys; they are experience in creating those module and it shouldn't take long to do so.

You should be able to reach them easely on the Thecus forums at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://forum.thecus.com/">http://forum.thecus.com/</a><!-- m --> .
1. Stéphane Guérithault alias Qoolbox, France
2. Alias Fajo, Germany. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.fajo.de/">http://www.fajo.de/</a><!-- m -->
3. Brian Gilbert alias BrianGilbert, <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://thecusunderground.com">http://thecusunderground.com</a><!-- m -->

Hoping to get a positive answer on your part, please accept the assurances of my distinguished feelings.

I have the GoodSync already installed on my NAS, but with manual startup. I have written a PM to Qoolbox, hope we'll have some time to help me with a mod generation.

At last... I have done it ALL myself. Smile I've got a mod file of GoodSync server for PPC NAS (N2310). You can download it from: http://www.elcadsoft.eu/public/GoodSync_PPC.mod. Just install and have fun.
