N7700PRO 4gb drives
#1
Hi,

I upgraded by THECUS N7700PRO from 7x2TB drives to 7x4TB drives. Now I can't create bigger raid then 16TB. Will there be a new firmware to fix this issue?

Best regards

Hi streme,

Is it an N7700PRO (32bit kernel), or N7700PRO V2 (64bit kernel)?

Thanks,

It's N7700PRO. It's NOT V2.

I just ordered "Thecus N7700/Pro v2 Upgrade Kit", so I will upgrade it to V2. Than I can create more than 16TB raid array right?

Hi Jaka,

With a V2 DOM installed, you will be able to create a new RAID volume bigger than 16TB. But, if you plan to do RAID expansion, 16TB limit will still be there.

Hi John,

I bought V2 DOM put it inside, but now THECUS don't power on. Do you maybe know why?

Hi jaka,

the unit wont boot because the DOM mightbe blank without any OS on it.
But you should find it via the Thecus Wizard tool and then set up the NAS with the most recent N7700ProV2 Firmware downloaded from the Thecus Website.
Be aware a new Setup with OS5 64bit will require to set up a new RAID as well - which will delete all previous data on the HDDs.
I propose to proceed with the upgrade as long as the entire (or selective) data has been backuped before.
Otherwise Switch back to the old DOM(s), boot and backup data first.
