System does not boot up properly
#1
Hi everyone,

I have had a strange problem with my N4100pro for a few months now. Almost every time I want to start the system, it will hang on "Booting...". After the second or third attempt, it usually completes the boot process correctly. :?:

I am running firmware version 004 with 4 HDDs in a RAID5. So far every attempt I have made at changing settings, resetting to default settings etc. has been unsuccessful.

It is really starting to get annoying - today it took 4 attempts. Does anybody have any clues as to what may be causing this problem and how I can fix it? :?

I have only booted without HDDs twice and did not have the problem then. In fact after booting without HDDs the next boot with HDDs also worked first time ... until the next day when the problem is back. However, most of the time the system will boot on the second attempt, only rarely will it take 3 or 4 attempts and it never works the first time.

This sounds silly, but have you tried removing and re-seating the RAM module? I had this problem a while ago and it seemed to fix it.

This worked for me also. Couldn't get it to boot consistently and so I re-seated the memory and now it seems to be much happier.
