Why fakepath?
#1
I just upgraded my NAS to fw 5.03.01.

I wanted to load the previously saved config file. After I point that file on C:\config.bin in browse file window in Config Mngmnt., when I return back it shows C:\fakepath\conf.bin

Then it says "Configuration File Version Error!"

WHY?

Dear Sir,

1. The fakepath just a call me for the link, we will see this call name while firmware updrage either, so you have no worry about this.
2. The CONF.BIN save the system status on current configration, thus the CONF.BIN able to upload on same version firmware, and won't accpet to upload elder CONF.BIN on newer frimware version.

So, what I understand here is that backing up conf. before a firmware upload is meaningless. Because the new one will not recognize the previous one.

Is that right?

Hi mpolat,

You are right. It's better to download the conf.bin *after* the firmware upgrade; not before.

Thanks,
