please provide better iSCSI size limits
#16
Can anyone from Thecus comment on this.

This is a fairly basic BUT crucial request for provisioning iSCSI targets.

At least let us know if it is on the radar, as this affects so many people.

may be a module PyTarget can resolve this problem... if i remember well i was bent on the release but the webadmin was a bit simple...

If someone knows a software web based... Thecus Modder community can bend on it

Here is a workaround I created today after having the same problem and finding this thread.

You will need (that's what I used):
1. Firefox (v. 10)
2. Firebug add-on for Firefox (v. 1.9.0).
3. Thecus N5500 (v. 5.02.02)

What to do step by step:
1. Go to Home > Storage > Space Allocation
2. Start Firebug (F12)
3. Open the HTML tab in Firebug
4. Press "Add" to add a new iSCSI target
5. Fill all required information - Target name, etc.
6. Slide allocation slider until some unique size is selected, e. g. 1234.5 GB
7. Search in Firebug for "1234.5 GB"
8. You should find it twice. First, just before a closing "label" tag. Second, in a value="1234.5 GB"
9. Click on the second "1234.5 GB" and change it to what you want, e.g. "512 GB", so it reads value="512 GB"
10. Press OK to create iSCSI target.
11. Confirm the creation and press OK to end it.

You should now have a brand new 512 GB iSCSI target.

And just the ability to present the raw partitions or entire block devices as iscsi targets, without the thecus automatically partitioning a device, adding an LVM and swap device to each disk in the array. For all but a couple of devices in the array (where I'm happy to have the swap device and /raid partitions), I want to just present the whole disk as a single iscsi target.
