When will Server 2016 be available pre-loaded?
#1
Hi, with Server 2016 about to be released when will your products come with it? As the lifecycle for 2012 will move into extended support in the next couple of years, I want to ensure I get a full lifecycle with 2016, not 2012. Or will there be some sort of upgrade if I buy an existing device like the W5810 now?
thanks

Note that this will be out of Thecus' control, it depends on Microsoft. Windows Storage Server Essentials is an OEM product that comes with the hardware, so far I did not find any details about any 2016 version.
Kind regards,

Wouter

And the product is now available? When will Thecus ship new devices with it

Dear Sir,

We afraid Microsoft have no plan for Windows Storage Server 2016 Essentials.
Only Windows Storage Server 2016 will available for rack mount Windows series NAS, and the MS license needs to be purchased separately.

IfHi all,
You're very, very wrong about this. Microsoft does too have Windows Server 2016 Essentials available. If you're an MSDN/Visual Studio subscriber, you can get it yourself from there ... I know this because I have it downloaded to my hard drive by mistake when browsing on there for something else. Hurry up, Thecus, and get your act together. I want one of your products too ... I can't unless I know you support the latest OS!

Dear Sir,

Of course we hope to provide WSSE 2016 update, but it is Microsoft have no plan to provide this business model for such no profit product, from the W2800~W5810 retail price and you will know Microsoft unable to get profit from this...

I'm looking for Windows Storage Server 2016, and don't really have room right now for a rackmount unit, hence why I was hoping to get it onto the W5810. If not supported, then, why offer access to the SSD with the built in OS. I don't want built-in OS. I want custom configuration. It looks like I'm not going to find that here.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your suggestion we will forward to related staff for this option. And also you could wipe the default OS, as like current laptop doing, and install what OS you went, of course beside hardware warranty and rest of tech, drivers utility support will be limited, and thanks for your understanding in advance.
